International Notable Guest Lectures Enrich the Students’ Academic Experience in Research & Technology


In an ongoing effort to enrich the academic experience of students, recently hosted two engaging guest lectures on Tuesdays and Thursdays in late October 2023. The guest lectures provided a unique opportunity for students and faculty members to gain valuable insights from distinguished speakers on a variety of important topics. These events were attended by the Chair of the English Education Study Program and the secretary, and also other study programs of Tarbiyah and Teacher and Training Faculty, all of whom expressed their commitment to fostering the culture of learning and research. The lecture series culminated with an address from Prof. Dr. Nirva Diana, M.Pd, the Dean of the Tarbiyah and Teacher Training Faculty. She gave a speech and delivered her gratitude to the coming of all outstanding speakers. She officially opened the event and wished a fruitful learning and experience gained by the students. Before presenting the topic of discussion, a signing of MoI (Momerandum of Intent) was held between the Dean and the speaker, followed by each head and secretary of study program. This MoI was expected to be the beginning of cooperation between the faculty and the speaker in the upcoming programs. 

The first guest lecture took place on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, on the ground floor of the meeting room at Academic Center. This informative session featured Dr. Karim Noura, who comes from Melbourne University, Australia. He is a prominent expert in the field of technology and its future implications. The event, which lasted from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, was moderated by Ms. Zakiyah, one of lecturer in English Education Department. Dr. Noura’s lecture centered on the rapid advancements in technology and their far-reaching impact on society. He emphasized the critical role that technology plays in shaping our future and the need for students to harness its potential. Dr. Noura shared valuable insights into how technology can be leveraged for educational purposes, making learning more engaging and effective. He encouraged students to stay up-to-date with technological advancements to remain competitive on the global stage.

On Thursday, October 26, 2023, it was another enlightening guest lecture, this time on the second floor in the theater room. The event was attended by the same enthusiastic audience, which included the chair of the English Education Study Program, the secretary, and faculty members. The first session of this lecture featured Hasan Oğzür Kapıcı, Ph.D., a respected scholar from Turkey. He delivered an informative presentation on “How to Write a Good Research Proposal.” Dr. Kapıcı emphasized the importance of formulating a well-defined research question as the foundational step in developing a research proposal. He encouraged students to approach their research with precision and a clear sense of purpose. Following Dr. Kapıcı’s presentation, Mr. George Kaliampos, Ph.D., from Cyprus, delivered a lecture on the significance of generating alternative ideas in research planning. He stressed the importance of creative thinking and the exploration of innovative approaches to research problems.
